Application

Your home university’s exchange coordinator must confirm that you are officially taking part in ERASMUS or another exchange program.

 Please download the application form

 Deadlines:

  • winter term: 15 July
  • summer term: 15 January 

Arrival

The best would be to arrive at the latest 1 or 2 weeks before the lessons start (end of September/early March). Please let us know your exact time and date of arrival in order to organise your pick up.
Please fill in and send back the arrival form.

By rail or by air 
The railway station for all regional trains, e.g. except the IC, EC and ICE, is “Bingen  Hauptbahnhof” (i.e. main station).
By car
Have a look at the location map and follow the white signs for “Fachhochschule”   

Registration

To be enrolled you have to register at the student´s registration office. You will need the following documents:

  • date of your school leaving certificate (higher education entrance qualification)
  • student ID from your home university
  • passport (copy)
  • proof of health insurance
    EU citizens should bring a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC)
  • 2 photos
  • proof that you have paid the semester fee: At registration you will receive a "bank transferral form" containing your student registration number which you must use to pay the fee. For that procedure you need a german bank account.

Accommodation

The International Office will provide you with assistance to the best their abilities. Please fill in the Accomodation Form specifying the classification you desire. The International Office acts solely as agent, and so the rental agreement is settled by yourself with the respective landlord or landlady. Payment of a deposit is generally due upon concluding a rental agreement. The deposit amounts to one or two monthly rent of payments. Of course, the deposit will be returned, if the flat is left in a good condition, when you move out.

First days in Bingen

To find your way around and settle in to your new environment german students (tutors) will help you for better orientation. A quick and uncomplicated solution can often be found to some problems there may be.

Bank account
In order to pay the rent to your landlord or the semster fee you must open an account at a German Bank

Residence permission
You have to register at the Resident´s Registration Office (Bürgerbüro Bingen) the first 14 days after your arrival. You have to present your passport and your rent contract.

German Course
If you want to join a german course, please let us know in advance. Wether we may organize a special crash course or you may take part in the german language courses offered by  public evening classes (Volkshochschule Bingen)

Orientation Days
Don´t miss introductory events at the start of each semester offered by the student council (AStA) and by the departments. In addition the International Office will organise orientation meetings.
